About Us

History

Our founder, Adv. Prashant Mehta has had experience practicing on several litigation matters on the Original, Appellate and Writ Jurisdiction of all Courts/Tribunals in India and abroad, for over a decade. He has represented major clients in both domestic and international arbitrations and has also had the opportunity of working with top Indian Law Firms.

After running an office of his own with several lawyers associated with him on full time and part time basis, in 2017, he envisioned the need to institute Mehta Law Offices.

Retd. Justice Mohan Lal Mehta

Justice Mohan Lal Mehta begun his career in 1976 by practicing in the lower courts in Delhi. After a year of practicing, he drew a keen interest in the judicial services and soon realized that he wanted to serve the judiciary. He joined the Delhi Judicial Service on May 20, 1977. During his tenure as a judge, he has taken up responsibilities at different positions such as Metropolitan Magistrate, Additional Rent Controller, Commercial Civil Judge and Joint Registrar, Delhi High Court.

In 1996, he was promoted to the Delhi Higher Judicial Service, by virtue of which he got a chance to work as an Additional Sessions Judge, an Additional District Judge and as a Special Judge (TADA and CBI). He has also acted in the capacity of the Presiding Officer, Labour Court and Motor Accident Claims Tribunal.

Justice Mehta played a key role in establishing the Delhi Mediation Centre at the Karkardooma Court Complex and worked there as full time Judge In-charge and Coordinator. As a designated trainer, he trained various lawyers and judges in mediation. Justice Mehta became the District Judge-II in 2008. Pursuant to which, he went ahead to work as the Principal Secretary (Law, Justice & Legislative Affairs), Government of NCT of Delhi and subsequently was elevated to the Bench of the Delhi High Court.

Having retired on December 30, 2013, he has been working closely with his son, Mr. Prashant Mehta and is a founding member at Mehta Law Offices. His role at Mehta Law Offices covers a broad spectrum of work including legal consultancy. He is in charge of Mediation and thereby acts as a mediator in various matters of the Firm. He is also involved in issuing various legal opinions on key legal issues.

Advocate Prashant Mehta

Advocate Prashant Mehta started his career in 2006 with a leading Indian law firm where he represented and advised various Government Departments, Public Sector Companies, and Multinational Companies on issues involving Arbitration Laws, Land Laws, Administrative Law, Banking Law, Constitutional Law, Mining Law, Electricity Law, Criminal Laws, and Corporate Laws and represented the clients before various Courts in India and abroad.

A legal spearhead since his early education days, Mr. Prashant has been awarded the Cambridge Commonwealth Scholarship for pursuing law degree at Cambridge University, United Kingdom, the Sanwa bank Scholarship for excellent academic pursuits in St. Stephen’s College, a Scholarship by Craigmore Foundation, New Delhi for pursuing law at Cambridge, the Hughes Hall Commonwealth Scholarship by Cambridge University, UK and the Commonwealth Society scholarship for assisting in the drafting of the Bill on ‘Child Abuse in India’.

Advocate Mehta has worked in a wide array of legal sectors and has advised clients on various issues of all Corporate and Commercial matters, Constitution law matters, Administrative law matters, Arbitration Matters, and Infrastructure and Real Estate law matters.

He has also worked extensively on joint venture agreements, collaboration agreements, technology transfer agreements, aircraft manufacturer disputes and real estate disputes. He has advised clients in setting up various road, railway, metro and power projects in India. He has also represented various government entities before the Delhi High Court.
